What’s with all the hype?

Ever had a bomb outfit & your glasses didn’t flow with it?

Trust me, we’ve all been here before!

Welcome to necessory! My name is Keirston and I’ll be your guide. I’ve been wearing glasses since the third grade. It all started with my fascination with this gold pair of prescription glasses my sister had. I loved the shape of them and the way they fit me (lol). My fascination was so bad that I would sneak and take them to school (don’t judge me) and wear them ALL DAY! For a kid with 20/20 vision to wear another person’s prescription glasses, well, we know what happened and my folk’s were mad as all get out that they now had another kid in glasses (sorry momma and daddy). I couldn’t see anything! I was required to wear glasses - EVERYDAY - and I loved it!

I always loved the thought of wearing glasses as a fashion statement and I treated it as such. For years, my eyewear and a bomb roller wrap (shout of to Janet) was my staple for every outfit. Whether a day out with friends, date night with my boo, or watching tv, eye wear is a required accessory. For an extra boost, I have the privilege of pairing some amazing glasses with Justine - my curly frohawk *yes, my hair has a name). I believe that a woman's crown & glory is her hair. Justine is her own woman: confident, ever-changing, and edgy! She helps set the tone of the day. Paired with the perfect eyewear, they’re both staples of my unique style. I take pride in making sure I am unapologetically happy and confident daily!

Each week, I’ll review a different pair of eyewear from my personal collection. In the review, I’ll share how I paired the glasses with different outfits and occasions.

This past Saturday, I attended The Financial Literacy Institutes’ Black Wall Street: A Black Business Expo showcasing black-owned businesses, provided history lessons, and future ideas for our community.

THIS WEEK’S EYEWEAR:

Arhelo” was purchased from Voogueme (www.voogueme.com) and before my prescription lenses, cost $22 - no typo. I love the shape & details. The semi-cat eye shapes my face and when I tell you this pop of tangerine on the bridge & edges of the frame are perfect! This photo doesn’t do any just to the greatness of these glasses. The blazer, J.Crew, is tangerine linen with a cream/blue pinstripe satin lining. Both the v-neck body tank and high-waisted button fly jeans are from J.Crew also. The single ankle-strapped shoes are a.new.day from Target. They are comfortable and budget friendly. I paired the look with large hoop earrings. My other jewelry pieces are courtesy of Waldo’s Gallery, Alex & Ani, and Apple. Even in the rain, I brought out Harriett (my handy-dandy Dooney & Bourke satchel) to complete the look. Justine was even poppin’ with the curls too! So many glasses-wearing curlfriends inquired about the look. I was feeling the love, and to be completely honest, my confidence was at all all time high.

All About Arhelo:

That 9-5: Absolutely. This look is perfect for a Zoom meeting or casual Friday’s in the office.

Girl’s Day Out: Yes Ma’am Pam! Enjoy brunch with the girls or that day party!

BAE Night: Of course! Simply toss the blazer, grab a cute clutch, and a nude lip!

Loungin’: Why not? The champage color gives a relaxing vibe.

Overall, I give these glasses a 5 out of 5. It looks like these glasses are a new favorite that will be in rotation all summer. I’ll revisit them later with other outfit options.
