Sticks and Stones
Now, wait a minute! -removes glasses- It’s too much going on with all this background noise! If you (and those other folks) don’t wear glasses or eyewear isn’t your thing, just say that!
I’ve heard phrases like these most of my life when it comes to eyewear. Although the words were meant to hurt me, I’m so glad I never allowed it to play on my self-esteem. Not to excuse the comments, but how could I honestly be mad at a person that does not wear prescription eyewear to understand or empathize with me. I cannot expect said person to understand the headache and/or nausea you may get when wearing a new pair of glasses or even contacts, especially when it’s a new prescription. I can’t expect said person to empathize with the aggravation of our glasses fogging up in colder months when you walk indoors from being outside. Let’s not even dive into wearing a make & glasses! It can’t even be expected of said person to rationalize that eyewear is synonymous with choosing jewelry, clothes, or shoes. These preconceived ideas do not mean a glasses-wearer is nerdy, timid, or minimal! Actually, we’re pretty freakin’ awesome with our necessory!
To me, having multiple eyewear choices is bigger than fashion. Glasses are an extension of who I am and since I don’t consider myself to be one dimensional, why should my eyewear be?

This Week’s Eyewear:
This pose is a true depiction of how I feel when I receive new glasses!
These round, full-rimmed glasses, doting a trendy black & white front with gold nose bridge & arms, go with EVERYTHING! I don’t typically like round frames, but for this price and color, I had to do a double take! For this look, I paired my Teacher Top Shop tee with a pleated black skirt and my Adidas sneakers. As always, I rounded out the look with a favorite large hoop earrings and my Waldo’s Gallery bracelets.
The Switch Up
I switched out the shoes from sneakers to heels. It is so easy to go from fun to sassy - ready for a night out!
All About Ibbie:
That 9-5: Yes! I wear these often during the week!
Girl’s Day Out: Come on now! Absolutely!
BAE Night: These frames are actually a pair I wear often on date night.
Loungin’: Not so much. The arms are very snug.
Overall, I give these glasses a 4.89 out of 5. I almost gave these frames a perfect score, but the snug arms sometimes cause a slight headache when I wear them too long. HOWEVER, for $2.95, some Advil can add the extra points needed (just kidding)!
So, the next time you hear a non-prescription eye wearer say something absolutely absurd about your eyewear, don’t let them stress you out! If you think someone’s eyewear is doing the most, let that person walk in their own light!
We all have our thing! The best thing to do is love people in their element - even if you don’t totally agree with their choices! Your little ounce of kindness will go a long way in making someone else’s day! As our social media auntie Tabitha Brown says: “Have the most amazing day, and even if you can’t don’t you dare go messing up no one else’s ya’ hear!” Perfect words to live by!
