What the Fog?
Face Mask + Eyewear
A few weeks ago while attending my nephew’s graduation in Texas, I saw a sign that read “Ears are the new purse: they carry earrings, a mask, and glasses.” How accurate is that?!
I long to be outside without a mask like everyone else, but more importantly, I need to be safe and do my part during this pandemic to keep my family and others I may be around safe! If you wear glasses, you already know the most hated challenge we face with wearing a mask & glasses: THE DREADED FOG! I wear my mask, at minimum, eight hours per day, so I’ve been asked, “How do you deal with fog?” and my answer is simple - wear your mask properly! This week, we’ll tackle this now recurring conversation.
I only have one tip when it comes to wearing a face mask & eyewear: Make sure your mask is worn properly & well fitted on the bridge of your nose.
That’s the reason glasses fog up when wearing a mask. Most mask have a bridge bar that can be pinched around the bridge of the nose. If the mask is not fitted properly, the air inside the mask escapes at the nose. For any mask that does not have the bridge bar, simply pull the mask up closer to your eyes and rest your glasses over the mask on the bridge of your nose. Wearing your mask on the tip of your nose will fog your glasses each and every time and is not protecting you at all.
When my face mask straps irritate my ears, I flip the strap over the arms of my glasses. It gives my skin a little breather, but if I don’t remember the flip when I remove my mask, my glasses fly off! (LOL - it has happened multiple times)
This Week’s Eyewear:
I wanted a new pair of green glasses, and lately, I find myself intrigued by titanium (wire-like) frames. TADA! I found these semi-cat eye frames on www.zeelool.com.
The green top-rimmed frames stand out in contrast to the black bottom. I like to match these frames with my solid black headwrap for a pop of color. The frames are easily paired with any outfit as they can be dressed up or down. As pictured above, Justine and I had a fight this day, but I won. Protective-style twist and a headwrap for the win!
Did I add that these frames are unisex? Recently, I saw a gentleman out with the same frames. He stopped me and said “Zeelool right?” I nodded my head and we both laughed.
All About Chidera:
That 9-5: These frames are worn weekly.
Girl’s Day Out: I have a few selfies from GDO in these frames - so yeah!
BAE Night: My husband says these remind him of Sweet Pea baby food (LOL - He’s got jokes” Don’t tell him he’s funny though; our house can’t handle that! LOL)
Loungin’: Eh, I’ve done that a few times, but these are another fragile frame. I don’t recommend it.
Overall, I give these glasses a 3 out of 5. Titanium (wire-like) frames are still very fragile to me. Although I am careful with all my frames, I have to give these a little TLC. The fit is comfortable and require very little adjusting. I do love the style and color scheme.
I know it can be frustrating wearing your face mask & eyewear. After almost two years (Dang Gina!), you’d think we’d all be use to it by now. We still have to maintain and stay the course so that we can collectively beat this pandemic. If we all do our part, I believe we can get it done!
A colleague recently shared her experience with this mask with me yesterday. She mentioned that she liked it because for the first time in over a year, her glasses didn’t fog up while wearing a mask. I was so intrigued, that I purchased the same mask. So far, so good! It has a snug fit and adjustable ear straps.
